Becoming a Pilot - Pacific Islands (including Tonga, Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa)

We do not provide specific advice on becoming a pilot if you are based in the Pacific Islands. We provide New Zealand aviation theory courses (not practical flight training) to anyone wishing to gain their New Zealand pilot licences. 

Some Pacific Islands may recognise a New Zealand Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR) and Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). Other Pacific Islands may permit the conversion of a New Zealand Pilot licence to their own regulatory pilot licence system. 

It is common for some student pilots to study the New Zealand pilot licence programme, then when they gain their CPL, transfer this (under the local licence conversion process) to their home country's pilot licence. This may require completing the practical (in aircraft) training programme in New Zealand.

Before commencing any aviation training programme, make sure you are fully aware of the requirements for your home country.
